WHO THE HELL ARE THE DISTAINED:

Emerging from the 2023 DIY punk scene, The Distained are a four-piece from Tulmur/Ipswich turning youthful energy into something far louder, and more intentional than their years suggest. They’ve quickly built a reputation for pushing volume and intensity to the limit, where neighbourly noise complaints come with the territory. Their sound thrives on contrast: screaming, distorted guitars cut through memorable melodies, with brooding verses giving way to explosive, cathartic choruses. It’s chaotic but controlled. Music that hits hard and sticks. No gimmicks, no posturing - just raw, unfiltered emotion. The Distained make music that’s built for movement, connection, and loud rooms, capturing teenage angst with a conviction that feels well beyond their years.

WHAT WE'VE BEEN UP TO:

Throughout their short time together “The Distained” have already begun accumulating achievements which are extremely impressive for any group, let alone one so young. The band released their first studio album on October 11th 2024, playing it in its entirety, the same night to a sold out launch show. Their song Slamdanceathon came in at the blistering number 2 spot on the respected 4ZZZ Hot100 countdown for 2024, along with their track Conceal placing 18th in 2025. The Distained are the youngest band in 4ZZZ history to reach a position so high. They have also been pumped to have had both Triple J and Unearthed air their songs multiple times.

The Distained has been honoured to share the stage with legends such as: Radium Dolls, Lower Class Brats, Anty! (The Bennies), Ben Ely (Regurgitator), Custard, Murphy's Law, Mortal Sin, LOLA.

Seven X

Seven X is The Distained’s first release of 2025. By May 2025 the song has already received airplay on Triple J as well as countless plays on community radio across both Australia and the globe.

Conceal

Conceal is The Distained's latest release, the song dropped on July 4th and subverted expectations of listeners due to the innovation and evolution of The Distained's sound. There is more to come of this reinvention of the band in the near future.
